Emilio “Sal” Salinas Jr., 81, of Keaau, died Nov. 29, 2021 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Villaldama, Mexico, he was a retired senior analyst for Beckman Instruments.

He is survived by spouse, Elsie Roma Salinas of Keaau; sons, Peter (Kelli) Salinas of San Angelo, Texas, Michael Salinas of Tracy, California, Patrick (Tinka) Salinas of Cedar Park, Texas, and Sal Salinas of Rio Linda, California; sisters, Estela Salinas, Tona Lopez, Arminda Garcia, and Rachel Rodriguez of McAllen, Texas, and Teresa Hernandez of Illinois; brothers, Noe Salinas and Adan Salinas, both of McAllen, Texas; hanai daughter, Patricia Tirado of California; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jayme “Noa” Kainoa Yoshio Yamamoto, 53, of Hawi, died Nov. 18, 2021 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. He was born in Honolulu.

Damien Carreira
Damien Glen Carreira, 43, of Hilo, died Oct. 5, 2021 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was the owner/operator of KKC Wood Designs and Basic Booms Sound Systems and worked in construction.
Friends may call at 3 p.m. Dec. 11 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 4 p.m. service. Casual attire and no flowers.
He is survived by, son, Kinohi Carreira-Galdeira of Kurtistown; parents, Kerwin and Roxane Iwamoto of Hilo; brother, Dennis Carreira Jr. of Hilo; grandparents, Gilbert and Doris Damasco of Hilo and Annie Iwamoto of Wailua, Kauai; and aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Nestor “Ness” Macatbag Asuncion, 66, of Hilo, died Oct. 25, 2021, at his residence. Born in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a former manager for Reed and Jay Photography and Action Photos of Hawaii, private contractor for the Star Advertiser and Hawaii Tribune-Herald, former store manager for Pearlridge One Hour Photo on Oahu, opened Prince Kuhio One Hour Photo and P.O.S. Computers in Hilo, trainer and co-founder of TRI – Technology Resource Institute and HTS – Hawaii Technology Source, educator at the University of Hawaii – Community College, former officer and member of the Big Island F.I.L.M. Club and the Camera Club Council of Hawaii.
